Apparently someone put up a poll once about which celebrities would most likely drive a lotus, and he was on the end of the list. Ever since then, it has been considered traditional to have a Geoff option on the end of a poll. Failure to do this results in this happening.

==How to fit a new head unit==

You'll need

*Flat head screwdriver
*Head unit 'keys'
*About an hour

==Remove the old unit==

Firstly remove the plastic surround from around the head unit, if it has one, my oem blankput head unit did not. Pop in the head unit keys and gently remove the head unit, below is a set of pictures to show you how the keys slot into the cage and allow you to remove the head unit.

==Remove the old head unit cage==

Not all new head units will come with a cage, it will depend on your model, also if the cage fitted is from the same brand you wont need to change it over. The old cage will need to be gently 'crushed' so that you can remove it from the cars head unit hole, if you do it gently the cage can be bent back to shape after you have removed it, like in my picutres in the bellow gallery.

Image:Headunit13.JPG|Old cage reshaped, good as new
</gallery>
{{clr}}

==Fitting the new head unit==

Make sure you get the cage the right way round, the lip should be on your side on the cage. Pop the cables through the cage and then gently push down as many of the cage tages down, this holds the cage in the car. I used a screw driver to do this, once your happy it is secure slide the new headunit in after connecting the ISO loom togeather. Make sure not to snag the cables.
==Fitting the new head unit==

==How to fit a new head unit==

You'll need

*Flat head screwdriver
*Head unit 'kets'

==Remove the old unit==

Firstly remove the plastic surround from around the head unit, if it has one, my oem blankput head unit did not. Pop in the head unit keys and gently remove the head unit, below is a set of pictures to show you how the keys slot into the cage and allow you to remove the head unit.

==Remove the old unit==

==Fitting the new head unit==

===Gear linkage===

The Gear linkage on the Elise K Series S1 and S2 (Toyota I am unsure, citation needed) can sometimes be a problem, restricting gear selection.

[[Image:Gear linkage sequence.jpg|thumb|left|click to make bigger]]
{{clr}}
As highlighted in green in the picture above is all the moving parts of the gear linkage

==Upgrades==

Various aftermarket retailers sell an up rated gear linkage kit which vastly improves gear selection over the OEM item (again S1 and S2 K series only, Toyota citation needed). This aftermarket kit replaces the entire gearbox end gear selection including the rubber bushes for nylatron bushes, there has been some debate on the forums in the past that just changing the bushes alone is enough to improve the gear linkage, however I cannot comment on this as I have only changed for a full kit myself.

The Aftermarket gear linkage kit changes the gearbox feel dramatically from a sloppy stirring porridge feel to bolt action feel, which sharpens gear selection no end.

===Short shifter===

Most people will fit the aftermarket gear linkage kit along with a short shifter, however the two items are not exclusive as ether can be fitter without the other.

More info to follow – feel free to add.

===Gear linkage===

The Gear linkage on the Elise K Series S1 and S2 (Toyota I am unsure, citation needed) can sometimes be a problem, restricting gear selection.
As highlighted in green in the picture above is all the moving parts of the gear linkage

==Upgrades==

===Short shifter===

Most people will fit the aftermarket gear linkage kit along with a short shifter, however the two items are not exclusive as ether can be fitter without the other.

More info to follow – feel free to add.
